Ok this one is as true as it gets when it comes to the old skool so this mix is not about Prodigy but thats important because the mix is named by their song and songs remix is in it. This mix comes from a real old skool rave music enthusiast who doesnt have a single Prodigy mixtape on his mixcloud so this is a real proof that Prodigy was on top of the game. At first when i found this mixtape i expected to hear a decent amount of Prodigy in it but then i realised this is actually a true old skool experience and Prodigy’s song is being used as a reference for it. This is important because most of the hard old skool rave music dj’s and enthusiast’s are trying to avoid Prodigy as much as they can even though they were on top of the game but as many Prodigy fans don’t realise they are not the pinnacle of it so thats the situation with The Prodigy and the old skool. Old skool is bigger than The Prodigy and its important to know that not only the hardcore Prodigy fans connect to them. So i think this is what you really want to hear if you are The Prodigy fan and also the old skool music lover.
Everybody who wants to get deeper into the world of music should find this mix interesting, by listening to this you will find that many things for the old skool electronic/rave music were set long before it actually appeared in the 90’s. This mix is made 100% of old skool funk from 70’s and 80’s which is not mellow and all our electronic love from 90’s was born only by its evolution and not as something different. In this mix are present samples used by The Prodigy and by the whole old skool rave movement especially in hardcore breakbeat and jungle music. It is that this kind of music influenced Liam Howlett himself very much so you should try to understand this too.
You have here proper/classical XL Recs mixtapes which start off with most popular artists like Prodigy, SL2 and Kicks Like A Mule to finish off with lesser known names or tracks to make things more true. Sessions are about 30 mins each so you can easily go through them to get into nostalgia about the times when XL Recordings was on the peak of its hight when it comes to the old skool rave bizniz. Besides hearing my favorite artists here its definitelly nice to hear stuff which i wasnt that familiar with.
Epileptics is quite a distinctive band known for their heavy and dark type identity so its totally irrelevant that they are quite small in compare to The Prodigy for them to play along them if they are good and they are. They were about all things heavy and rave so their performance was a time to enjoy and anticipate more of the good stuff. This set is notable for energy and variety of different vibe. I think this one is a score for Prodigy fans. Enjoy.
Dj Toby One is one of the lucky guys to be performing on The Prodigy’s tour and he was chosen to amplify the performances of Public Enemy and The Prodigy with heavy hip hop and bass vibes so the whole event gets as true and powerful as possible. There is nothing unwise about The Prodigy and the Public Enemy is strong and heavy as it gets so there is no room on the event for anything funny. I think The Prodigy won a serious etiquette and title i think by playing along the Public Enemy since these two bands are connected but quite different so all of us Prodigy fans have something to be happy about. Enjoy.
This is a serious tribute to the famous music label with first 4 chapters compilations being mixed up for proper enjoyment, its never enough of glorifying the old skool and XL Recordings is good starting point since it brought the best from the 90’s rave scene. XL was one of the symbols of the undergound back in the day so its nothing but top experience in these mixes/compilations. Enjoy.
ZX is the hardcore Prodigy fan from Serbia and he pays a proper tribute to the band with a set of 3 complementary mixtapes each one going deeper into The Prodigy beats. The first mixtape brings forward a more relevant Prodigy stuff with tracks from MFTJG, TFOTL and TDIME, the second one goes deeper with tracks from Experience, AONO and IMD and the third one wins greatest depth with all kinds of rarities unfamiliar to the wider audience, so at the end you got here a 3 step education/path into the Prodigy which is a proof that The Prodigy is not shallow and some funy phenomenon revolving only around the hits that everyone knows, there is so much to The Prodigy to appreciate and embrace. Enjoy the knowledge.
